my mother in law used to use sugar and boric acid. Mix the two together and place in a mayo jar lid under the fridge. The adult roach eats the sugar and gets the mix on its body, takes that back to the nest where the yound eat the mix off the body. Kills the adult and young.

Unfortunately, if you live in an apartment, you can't really get rid of them unless all the other apartments are fumigated also. You could try spraying all around the perimeter of the apartment, but I wouldn't use a trap...it could just bring more in from another apartment.

I heard if you see on you have one thousand in the walls.

Get those bait traps, that they go in and die. Some have just thick layer of glue they go in with out poison.Lowes, home depot usually have them
Obviously your neighbors have them too.
If you can get the landlord to fumigate the building is the only way to taotally get rid of them

would bleach be considered toxic? When I lived in Israel I would poor it down the shower drain.

Try putting out some diatomacious earth (not sure of spelling). You can get it from a hardware store.
