I live in East Sussex and keep hearing radio ads to tune in to Digital TV...... as it stand down here we can only receive four terrestrial channels ..... ITV, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. But everything that sounds great on the telly is on digital channels. I cannot afford satellite and we have no access to Freeview so we are veritably buggered for choice! I know that some areas of East Sussex have Freeview but we do seem to be out an a limb here! When is it all going to happen??

I live in East Sussex and can get the channels with freeview. You'll need to ask a TV engineer about compatibility, you may just need a booster. Web sites aren't always very helpful. If you need to try a Digi-box out get one from Argos, if it's no good you can get a refund if returned within 14 days.
Heathfield is the nearest transmitter for East Sussex.

I think you might be a tad misinformed here. You can definitely get freeview where you live (and channel 5 too). It is now only parts of Scotland and Wales that aren't covered. Your relative proximity to London means you are definitely well covered. Buy a box and plug it in.

Oh yes and you could always go for freesat instead. It costs more than freeview to buy the box (about £120), but there are no monthly payements thereafter (like freeview), and you get a few more channels than freeview.

My parents house has two Freeview boxes and they have problems viewing depending whether it is upstairs or downstairs. They are still waiting for Film Four to connect into the upstairs box. Things settle down eventually. Ring up Freeview for advice.

You can buy good quality sat receivers and dishes on e-bay that you can install yourself, its not very hard and all of these receive all the free to air digital channels Maplin also do a complete freesat system for around £80 and you do not have to pay any subscription cost to anyone and there are no tie ins or contracts to worry about.

I don't know when, but the government said that they plan on giving access to digital TV between now and 2012, all over the UK. So you still have time.

It will happen as soon as the television networks decide that there are enough people in your area to justify the installation of the extra transmissions.
Give it 5 years or so and you'll have it.
How long were people in your area waiting for broadband? or are they still waiting?
