I live in Alaska and I'd like to switch to Voice over IP to save money on my phone bills, but I can't find any providers that offer numbers in the 907 area code.

Sorry, they (vonage) don't have any numbers in Alaska yet-I tried to get one awhile back-but the good thing about vonage is you can get free long distance, so u can call whoever you want.

but your friends still have to have long distance in order to call you. Get...a seattle number...next closest thing.

When I lived in Alaska, I searched long and hard for that, but couldn't find anyone with the 907 area code. However, Vonage offers free long distance, so it won't matter if you choose a different area code. It would just be inconvienent for anyone who wants to call you in Alaska and doesn't get free long distance.
Sorry :-( I don' t have a better answer.

Dear Sir,

Until you can actually find a provider in your area that CAN offer that service you are stuck with the land line. They are the ones who release new numbers or transfer your land line number into VoIP number capability. At this time any company like Vonage might help you locate a provider. Chances are not that likely however.

Kind Regards,
Ben
