That's a very good question! Monkeys do stink. Cats are "programmed" to clean themselves and they do a very good job with their sandpaper tongues. Most farm animals do smell, and dogs smell if they aren't washed or at least groomed/brushed. We sweat, where many other animals cool themselves by panting.
Just some thoughts...good question.

when was the last time you went to the zoo? If it's been a while, you should go soon, and make sure your nose is clear so you can soak in all the smells. Animals are stinky too. Some even wallow in their own wastes! And it really hasn't been THAT long since we humans took weekly/monthly/yearly baths or showers. I mean, we've only had running water in our houses for the past 60 years or so. Before that, you had to either bring water up from the well or the creek, or bathe in the great outdoors. The saying "don't throw the baby out with the bath water" actually came from times when the whole family would use the same water to take a bath (and the babies usually went last, so they could have gotten lost in the murky bath water). In fact, we invented perfumes to help keep us from being so smelly, back before we were taking daily showers....

I think other animals can notice if one of their own kind is smelling kinda funky. Besides, most animals clean themselves once a day too. Cats and dogs lick themselves and monkeys clean eachother. It's just the means by which we clean ourself. We happen to shower, other animals happen to use their tongue. Some even find puddles to go rinse off in. As for us smelling funky after a day or so, we're not the only ones.

Monkeys may not need a shower, but it's not because they don't stink...It's because they don't care!! All the monkeys around them smell just as bad!!!
Most animals smell. If your cat didn't spend most of its day bathing itself, it would probably smell, too.
And FYI, we humans don't need to be emerged in water to be clean...just need to get the smelly stuff off, which we could do with a sponge if needed.

Something to do with humans being less hairy than other animals? Perhaps the hair on a dog or cat masks the smell somehow?

Have you ever smelled a monkey? They smell much worse than an unshowered human!! Dogs smell too if you don't bathe them (although some will bathe themselves if they have a pond or a pool to swim in) and cats lick themselves clean - there is a special agent in their saliva that cleans their fur, that's why you don't need to bathe them unless they are too sick or old to clean themselves.

Because we are the only animals ornery enough to complain about others smell.
Have you never been in a zoo and smelled what animals (including monkeys and apes) smell like and how strong?

Humans aren't the only animals that have to shower to avoid smelling! We're the only creatures that care if we do smell bad! And, we don't lick ourselves to clean ourselves. So, I think the presupposition of your question is incorrect.

My cats might pee someplace different than their field while they have been one million) offended with me or 2) their field wasn't sparkling adequate. An occasion, my littlest cat substitute into disillusioned with my fiancee for something and peed on him two times! while they "worked it out", it stpooed. perchance your neice has achieved something to annoy the cat. relating to the bathe, whomever showers there has probable achieved something ot worsen the cat...and it probable handed off in or around the bathe. As for the noise, i comprehend that different cats make the comparable "noise". many human beings think of it extremely is a start illness or injury.
