Easiest way is to multiply the BASE by the HEIGHT then divide by 2 (which is the same as multiplying by 1/2)

sounds like you are calculating the area of a right triangle.
if you are: here is a scenario
if base = 5cm, height = 4cm, what is the area?
A = 1/2 bh
A = (1/2) (5cm) (4cm)
A = (1/2) (20 squared cm) = 10 centimeters squared
or A = (2) (5) = 10cm^2 (in this case I multiplied 4 by 1/2 first)
either way you get 10 cm squared (or 10 cm^2)

Step One: Take the length of the base
Step Two: Multiply that length by the length of the height
Step Three: Multiply your result from step two by 0.5 or 1/2, OR divide your answer by 2 - this value will give you your desired final result.
