how do u convince ur parnets 2 let u have a cellphone? plz help!!!!!!!!!!!?

my sister had to wait until she was 16. i'm almost 13 and supposed to wait too. i think i've tried every trick in the book except ask 4 help, which i'm doing now so PLZ HELP ANYONE!!!!

Well, I got my own phone when I was 13... But I had to also convice my parent... I just told them that when I go out with friends and they don't have cell phones ((which they did)) then how am I suppose to get in touch with you if something comes up. I won't be able to contact you if I don't... Is exactly what I used!!

Oh my gosh little girl you do not need a cell phone! I am not jumping down your throat but come on what do YOU need a cell phone for. YOu're at school all day with your friends then you come home and you have the house phone to use and when you're not at home you're out with your friends there is never a time in your day when you need a cell phone. The only reason you want one is because everyone else has one and they don't need them either. I didn't get a cell phone until i was 18 years old and the only reason I got one was because I had gone away to college and it was cheaper then buying phone cards to contact friends and family back home. I am 23 years old and I tell you I hardly use my phone. If I talk to friends its usually through emails and instant messanger. Stop worrying about getting a phone trust me you don't need it. Your parents are doing right by not giving you one. I can see why your 16 year old sister would have one she probably goes out and this is a way for your parents to get a hold of her when necessary. Just wait 3 more years and you'll have one. When I was young we didn't have cell phones so there was no way for our parents to find us when we took off. Ahh the good ole days! See Ya!

My daughter will be 13 in a few months. My stepson will be 12 in a few months, and my other stepson just turned 10. They all want cell phones, but we won't let them until they are able to pay for themselves. This is the question I always ask them, "Why do you need a cell phone?" "Are you afraid you car will break down on you?" I don't really see the need for anyone so young to have a cell phone if you don't drive. They get expensive if you don't watch how much you use it.

You do NOT need a cell phone. Wait until you're older.

For use in "emergencies" is a load of crap. A phone isn't going to protect you from shootings, car accidents, etc. If you're still concious and alive after such incidents, you might be able to call.. but chances are, passersby will already have called 911.

You are going to have to earn some of your own money, try babysitting, housecleaning, or yard work in your neighborhood.

Also, make sure you do all your chores at home with a smile, and do them well.

Once they see you are responsible, they are MUCH more likely to help you.

Also, keep in mind there are politics involved. Because your sister had to wait until she was 16, it might be considered unfair for you to get one earlier! Times have changed, but fair is fair.

Tell them you will get a job and pay for part or all of it. Are you mature and responsible in other ways (good grades, stay out of trouble, no drinking, no drugs, etc.)? If not, show them you can be. Cell phones are expensive, especially if you download ringtones and text message. How will you contribute?
