Well, I don't know what "fly"is since I'm a bit older than you, I bet, but what you said sounds great, so use it! I remember, oh, about 30 years ago, when I was in a psychology workshop with about 25 or 30 people, and I had noticed this really great looking girl across the room from me, and she just looked so beautiful that I was sure she could never notice me. And then, at the close of the workshop, there was this interpersonal "exercise" we had to do, which was to write a note to any one person in the room other than the person you came with, and, before you leave the room, go give the note to that person. I forget what note I wrote and whom I gave it to, but I looked up to find that dreamy girl walking straight across the room to me, her eyes focused on me with a slight smile, and she handed me her note. I tried to minimize what I thought it might say so I wouldn't get all hopeful for some compliment, and when I opened her note, it read, "Gosh, your gorgeous!!" I was so excited and so flushed that I damn near fell through the floor!! I wanted to cry with joy that this BABE (and we didn't use that term back then, but, you get the idea.) came over to ME and gave ME a note and it said, "Gosh, your gorgeous!!" to ME. To this day, around 30 years after the fact, I can still get a flushed and excited and dreamy feeling as I remember that one moment. Be honest and direct. I like it when a woman honestly compliments what she likes about me or how I make her feel, rather then just tries to fluff me in the moment. (The "wow" factor can work wonders too... my girl IMed me the other day that she thinks I'm caring, giving, passionate, loving, intelligent, funny and handsome... I was amazed and flattered)

"You look hot/cute/manly" something like that. Or commenting on hairstyles as well. We don't really need to be complimented to be happy though so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
