I love Battlestar Galactica! It's my favorite show in the whole world and I'm looking forward for the new season. I personally also really love Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. Some of my scifi friends also like this new series called Kyle XY but i personally don't really like it because it's really wierd. Firefly is an old series by Josh Whedon and the movie Serenity is based after that, it is truly an amazing series. Doctor Who is also on Scifi Channel and it's really good too =)

Star Trek: The Next Generation, is one possibility. A very eclectic Star Trek. Another very eclectic and well conceived Sci-Fi is the classic Twilight Zone show. Cleverly put together, with segments varying from the most seriously dramatic, to others of a more light-hearted nature, but always fascinating, and what I would call a thinking person's sci-fi show.

I thought Babylon 5 was a really good sci-fi series, but that's probably a little old now. I really liked Lost but I fear it has jumped the shark. There is a new series called Heroes or something that is about a group of people with super powers, that looks good.

Firefly - It's available on DVD now, but it's awesome. Kind of like it they made a show that revolved around han solo and the millenium falcon with a grown up feel, that's how i would describe it.
Supernatural - This is a show that's going into season 2, and the first season should be on DVD in September. You can find the show currently on WB, but it will soon be on the new CW network. This show revolves around a couple of guys who roam the us taking on ghost, monsters, you know the supernatural. I think you'd like this show too.

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. There are nine seasons of SG-1 so you'll have plenty to watch. Previous episodes of Stargate SG-1 comes on every day at 1800EST Mon-Fri and new episodes come on at 2100EST Friday nights on the Sci-Fi channel. Atlantis comes on after SG-1 on Fridays.

Its not science fiction, although it sometimes delves into the world of science, but C-SPAN2 Book Reviews on the weekends is some of the best television in our times.

I can't say I'm too hip to television these days but I do recommend that you read the Dune books by Frank Herbert. Much more entertaining that television and better for you than having to sit through commercials.
