Boney James, Richard Elliot, Brian Sample, Bonafide, Al Jarreau, etc. etc. - all are great artists!
People who think it's 'elevator music' are missing out.

How could anyone find fault with any of the ones you mention. They are all great artists.
Having said that...Miles Davis, Charlie (the Bird) Parker, Bix Beiderbecke, Ella Fitzgerald, and of course, 'The Voice' Frank Sinatra all have a very special place and contribute greatly to my collection of Jazz artists.
As a P.S. ....It is elevated music, not elevator music.

I think its ok. BET Jazz features a lot of smooth and contemporary Jazz. I dig the classic sound myself. Miles, Hancock, Bill Evans, ect….

I like Spyro Gyra. Get the "Road Scholars" CD. It's live and it's better than anything they've done in the studio. Especially "Shaker Song" it's like a 10 min. clinic in jamming.

I know exactly what you mean people think i'm nuts because I like to listen to Jazz while i'm driving. It's great keep me calm & relaxed. No road rage with me.
