If I could just choose two players? A keeper and a center mid...thats easy.

As an experienced player and a midfielder myself, I believe the MOST important players are in the midfield. They are the basis of soccer, and they are the support for both sides of the field. Defensive players need a powerful body and a strong mind. Attackers need aggressiveness, speed, and accuracy for their job. Midfielders, however, require these traits and more just to keep the game stable.

The defenders are important, but if you have a terrific goalkeeper on your team I think I would choose the midfielders and attackers. You forgot to mention goalkeeper, because that is the last line of defense, and without a great keeper, a team just isn't solid, and you have to rely more on the defenders. So I would say, the midfielders, because they keep the tempo of the game, and the goalkeeper because in the end, it all comes down to him sometimes.

Midfielders, turning point in soccer games happens in the mid-field, midfield is how possession is determined, look at every leagues more midfielders get more than strikers or defenders example Ronaldinho- mostly play midfield, Beckham,Okocha,Essien,gattuso,

defense is more important- they can protect your goal!
midfielders are next- they can hold on to the ball, distrubute the ball, defend, as well as score!
attacker- well they attack until they score, then attack again.
Nesta- great defense
Kaka`- excellent midfielder with scoring power

it takes a whole team to win a match and it takes a whole team to lose a match. every position is necessary on the field so i really cant pick one that i think is more important.

the goalkeeper, it doesnt matter how good ur defence is if your keeper sucks you wont win matches. i would personally go with gianlugi buffon and petr cech.
