Well we'd be like a horse with blinders on, no peripheral vision.
Haven't you noticed...lots of people go through life like that? Thus the term "tunnel vision." Why does the horse wear blinders? To keep him from being distracted by his surroundings and move in a forward direction, led by a driver.

if we had no eye muscles, why would we have to turn our entire head around? if we had no NECK muscles, then this would be the case...but not if we had no eye muscles...

...Then we would have much stronger necks. I've seen people in neck braces that have to turn their entire body to see behind them...its a funny experience.
