Different. Worse in many ways, better in others.

As you noted some of the positives they have provided,
Music, movies, sports but also things like inventions and civil rights, political leaders and so on.

Some of the negitives that might not exist or that might lessen to be honest about both sides of the statment:
Gangs, theft, drug and alcohol abuse and the overall failure of many of our inner cities.

So again, as with any culture, many things would be worse with out them or better without them.

But then again how would it be for the American Indian if Whites never came to America???

Well....
Sports would probably suck.
Music would be very different.
There would be a lot less good comedians.
Movies wouldn't really be all that different. There are only a handful of really good black actors who come to mind.
Culture in general would be more boring.
But there might be some advantages too, if you go by the statistics that show there are more blacks in jails and more blacks on welfare, etc.
But I guess you take the good with the bad.

Music would be Seriously Affected:

I'd be very sad if music by smokey robinson, marvin gaye, the supremes, michael jackson, sam cooke, ray parker junior, louis armstrong, take 6, aretha franklin, chic, etc. etc. did not exist today.

Without Soul, American culture would not have been as important in music.

Very different...
The Beatles, for instance, were VERY heavily influenced by the 50's Black American artists... Many white early 60's rock & roll acts had the same influences...
The ENTIRE issue of segregation and desegregation probably wouldn't have happened... Martin Luther King, Jr. wouldn't have happened... It would have been VERY different...

Great question. Blacks contributed a lot to our culture. Then again, so did the Spanish, the English, etc...

W/o Blacks, I would say we would be more like Canada. That's not necessarily a bad thing - it's just that we already have a Canada.

for one thing, our US athletics would sorely be effected, we never would've had jazz if not for Louis Armstrong...the entertainment business would be very depleted not to mention all the arts. It would be very empty without the African American influence.

More boring for sure but also less crime, less contraversy, and would run way smoother. Think of the money the Gov would save if we didn't have 85% of the criminals in this country. We would have better schools, health care and opportunity.

Boring. History would be missing something. No Will Smith would be terrible. That man is yummy. Same for Denzal Washington.
