I need some support/help something. I have been on effexor 150mg for several months. I want to get off. It is not working and I am trying cold turkey. As you may know I am just going crazy. I want to know how can I get this sh!t out of my body really fast. The vertigo, night sweats, headaches, jitters and numbness/tingling is just crazy. Not to mention the mood swings. I can be very solemn, laugh, cry and then get solemn again in like 30 seconds. I do not want to get back on to get off gradually. I want it gone now! Please send suggestions if you have any. Thanks!

I have no plans on getting on anything else unless it is all natural. I can't believe that it is safe to be prescribed a drug that makes you feel this way. I have searched online a bit and found that you may never get over the withdrawal symptoms. That is crazy!

You will get through the symptoms...but you should be tapering your dose, you're shocking your body by doing it cold turkey and your side effects are going to be worse because of it. If you take the effexor xr than you are going to need to get a script for the two lower strengths and taper off, if you take the tablets than it will be easier to taper off because you can split the tablets without having to pay for more. You'd still have the side effects even with tapering your dose but they wont be as bad as cold turkey. I tapered off of the effexor xr and I didnt feel right for a month, I even switched right to the wellbutrin xl after tapering and I still felt crappy. Effexor is one of the worst antidepressants there are, it is the hardest on your body and you can actually feel the effects with it...you shouldnt feel anything but "better" while on them. Tell your doctor you want to taper off and maybe he/she can give you samples of a week supply of the 75 mg and a week of 37.5 mg. Effexor's generic just got released like a week ago...if you're worried about cost.

effexor is one of the most addictive drugs of that family, i would consider talking to your doc about tapering off. those people who never get over the withdrawl symptoms are extreme cases, but you probably will feel like crap for a couple weeks if you quit cold turkey
and if im rememebring right, effexor comes in capsules not tablets so dont cut them as other people are telling you too (unless i am incorrect)

It really is best to taper off the dose -- I had to get off of effexor after it caused my resting heart rate to be around 160 -- I spent the night in the hospital on heart monitoring because of this.

Get another med! If you just quit your meds you can end up with worse side affects- trust me!! See your Dr ASAP. You definitely need to get off of Effexor but you might need a different med.

I was on Effexor for about a year, and had withdrawal symptoms that I hear are similar to heroin withdrawal when I tried to taper off on my own: dizziness, headaches, flu symptoms, night sweats. You have to taper off extremely slowly, and please see a doctor about it. You may have the symptoms for a long time if you continue to try to go cold turkey. Good luck!

You need to reduce the dose gradually. If you are really chemically sensitive I would go to your doctor but for example reduce the dose by 20mg or whatever for a week then keep doing that till your down to one tablet and then take the tablet every second day. These tablets are very difficult to cut so I would see your doctor to see what the smallest tablets.
Good luck

Withdrawal, eh? Go to the doc who prescribed it and ask him/or her. Going cold turkey is too hard and might not be good at all. Why suffer?
