How long would it be before you snapped?

What would you say or do to avoid being tortured?

If given the chance to trade places with someone else, someone you really admire or love, would you let them suffer instead of you?
But, the catch is that you have to watch them being tortured and even inflict some pain yourself....would you do it?

I couldn't let someone take my place, especially if I had to watch and administer myself. I do not know how long I could stand it since I haven't been in that position before. I do know that if the person has the detemination and can keep their mind right in the beginning they have a higher chance of making it thru. Who knows? What would you do?

Wow... that is a whole lot of question...

I don't know how other people would react, so I will tell you how I would react...

I think I would not snap very quickly... I am a strong-minded woman. I have firm beliefs and opinions. I can take "psychological torture". I didn't think I could, but I realized that I can as long as it is inflicted only on my person.

What would I say or do to avoid being tortured: I would think that no matter what one sais or does saves you from torture. If there is a person/people sick enough to torture, would you really think that they would change their minds based on what you say or do?

I would not ever trade places with someone else. I do not believe that making someone else suffer in place of myself saves me from any suffering. The guilt and pain would just kill me. I am not a super hero and don't pretend to be... but if I was given the choice (which I was not) to choose to have me or anyone I love be hurt instead of myself, I would rather pick 1,000 tortures for myself. I am the type of person who loves to the 100%. I never ask for something in return and give my all. My loved ones are my weakness, wether it be parents, siblings, family or friends, I would give my life (litterally) if I could prevent them from any suffering.

1) Probably yes and no but it will depend on the severeness and frequency of the torture inflicted;
2) Can't really tell how long before I snap;
3) Um... pretend I'm already insane? lol;
4) I would never allow to trade places with someone else related to me, even with the farthest friend I know.
5) If in case forced against my will to trade places and told to inflict some pain myself, I would rather do my best to inflict the pain against the enemy even if it's suicide.

I don't think I could, because I'm too close to the crazy side already. It wouldn't take much to put me over the edge. I would say almost anything to avoid torture. As far as doing something to avoid it, that would be on a case by case basis.
But I would not trade places and make someone I love endure the torture. No!

Everyone snaps eventually. Methods of torture have become so sophisticated in the last century that no one stands any real chance of not breaking. However one of the drawbacks is that when people break they become almost totally irrational. Predicting what you or anyone else would do is not easy if even possible. Everyone breaks but what happens then is in the air, weather they talk, submit, or just go crazy.

I would rather take it than anyone else that I care about.

I have no super human strength and I am not immune to pain, but I would rather endure the hardship than see a family member hurt.
