The law has not changed, cyclists have always been exempt from the usual laws of the road, I put to you the following examples:
Cyclists always go around the outside of roundabouts regardless of which direction they are going.
Cyclists are allowed to use bus lanes.
Cyclists have realised that it's easier to run red lights than to get up on the pavement and go around them.
Cyclists do not have to indicate for anything because their arms are far to occupied with oscillating the handlebars for that authentic wobble effect.
Cyclists are not required to have lights on in poor light conditions, nor wear high-visibility clothing.
Cyclists who do decide to use lights, insist on setting their small red LED unit to "flashing" mode, which, although is apparently illegal, is never enforced.

it truly is against the law and regularly risky to run red light fixtures on a bike, yet the following is why many cyclists do it besides: driving a bike expending the smallest volume of ability ability holding any momentum you construct up at the same time as driving. Ever had to end and commence each block on a bike? It takes a large type of more effective ability and time to end and bypass truly than merely driving by ability of the light fixtures. It also makes a journey take signifcantly longer once you should end at each undemanding on a bike - any vehicle can boost up rapidly and really to 30+ mph - a bicycle proprietor has to artwork particularly confusing merely to maintain a 15mph overall speed. a three-mile journey at a 15mph overall speed takes 12 minutes to finish. that similar 3-mile journey at 6mph overall speed (waiting in any respect light fixtures) could take 1/2-hour. incorrect or acceptable, criminal or no longer, that 18 minutes can make the version between being on time or being overdue.

There is nothing that can be done, so get over it.
100 cyclists run a red light and nothing will happen. You hit one of them, your in court explaining why you hit them!.
Cyclists are allowed to bend the laws any way they feel.
why is it cyclists are allowed to do anything, yet even though my taxation class is bicycle, im not allowed in a cycle lane!.

And what planet did this happen on then??
Seriously though, was it is the Red Light district and exactly what type of 'bike' was he riding?
What you must remember is that the common or garden cyclist is akin to domestic cats who, by default, have a 'roving commission' and like the inevitable Martini drinker can do it any place, anyhow, anywhere ......

It has in some places, and hasn't in others. For example, check the Idaho link below: it is allowed there (after stopping):
A person operating a bicycle or human-powered vehicle approaching a steady red traffic control light shall stop before entering the intersection and shall yield to all other traffic. Once the person has yielded, he may proceed through the steady red light with caution.

Same time that the law changed that people exiting parking lots and driveways don't have to yield the right of way.
Thank God someone else is annoyed by this crap.
Bicyclists that do this then claim they had the right of way...just remember how comforting it will be when you are in your wheelchair to remember that you had the right of way. Or how nice it will be on your tombstone: "He had the right of way." A car will do a lot more damage to you than you will to it.

As far as I know...it hasn't. Cyclists are vehicles and must abide by the same laws. They even have to stop at stop signs.

Its illegal of course but you should be thankful , more cyclists means less traffic. Also if you ride a bike you will know that momentum is good inertia is bad.

The same day that the law changed to say that we were allowed to hit them from the other direction and plead it was an accident.
