This is such a complex question. Here's the short answer. Most ideologies are based in constant programming. In other words, as children certain values and ideals are instilled in us. As we grow older we try to validate the deep seeded feelings through our actions.

It is EXTREMELY hard to change a person's ideology. A common method used is creating personal experiences for the person. The more personal experience someone has with the opposite view, the more likely they are to understand the other viewpoint. (The TV show "30 Days" take this approach) http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/30days/main.html)

In summary, this belief has been something festering in this person for a very long time. Think of the norms and values you hold and think about what it would take for you to believe the exact opposite.

The same reasons that you believe these groups shouldn't be allowed to think the way they do, are the ones that will give you a point to disagree with. You take the groups away, the populous finds something else that they can't believe in. That is the "god given right" as a human. Pardon the expression.

Only God Himself can do that in the mind and heart of another. For some people ideologies are so passionately held to that the ideologies, be they right or wrong, become ends in themselves.

B52's napalm and around the clock carpet bombing. During WW2 did anybody say fire bombing Dresden or using the A-bomb to finish the war was unnessary? If they want to be martrys lets help them on their way. I would think thats what they want. Emagine strapping bombs on children for a lousy ten grand. Pretty sick ideology don't you think?

Kill them, economically or with bombs. The ideology of Communism was removed from the U.S.S.R., only China left to go, but we seem to have stopped caring about communism..

You've got to be talking about Islam.... you're question describes Muslims to a 'tee'.

Only way to not get killed is to kill them first, since negotiation is impossible, as we've seen from Muslim countries for the last 30 years.
