Well everyone is going to say it is your responsibility as a citizen to do this. but I know people who receive those things in the mail box. and tear them up. They never get a call or a cop at the door. How they gonna prove you ever got it? If you don't have to sign for it there is no proof. People only get nailed if they call in to respond to the letter.

Don't register to vote you won't be summonsed. I think it too late for your co-worker though. If you refuse or do not show up you can be arrested but just because she was summonsed doesn't mean she will be part of the jury. That is for selection.

Yes, several times. The first two times, I was dismissed without even making it to the jury selection stage. The third time, I got picked for a jury.

If you refuse or fail to answer the summons, a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest and you can face jail time and a fine.
Make time.

Hey Lazy Bones, no one is really delighted to be chosen as a juror, but since we are a free country every once in a while the government may ask it's citizens to help the courts by being a Juror. We all have lives as well, but we are Americans and if we can help by being a Juror then so be it! Whats your problem Pretzel Dick ?

Yea, be declared incompetent!
And yes, being an American and actually having to do something is terribly inconvenient isn't it?
How about coming home in a body bag? Think that might be "inconvenient"?
Let me guess, you are Republican!
PS: The not voting doesn't work anymore in most states. Mine takes them by voter registration, AND Motor Vehicle License!

How about DO NOT avoid it! Think of it as your opportunity to be glad you don't live in a dictatorship where the common man can judge evidence against a fellow citizen to deterime if he/she should be found guilty or not. Instead of other countries where it is "if we say you did it, you did it".
