Everyone always makes the mistake of saying that Michael Jordan is the best player in the game. I would put him in the top 5 but not the number one spot. When answering this question you should ask who you would want to build your own nba team around. And I believe that the answer would be either Earvin "Magic" Johnson or Wilt Chamberlain. Magic was simply amazing at playing the point, especially for his size. Wilt is the most dominant player to have ever been in the league. Jordan was amazing but he won his championships at a time when the league was in a slump when it came to talent. The Bulls were really the only team that was built to win the championship ans if it wasnt for Jordans gambling then they would have tied bostons 8 championships in a row. But Magic played at a time where no one knew at the beginning of the season who was going to win and he won two championships in a row during an era where a repeat was unheard of.

Oscar Robertson. The "Big O".
In the 1961-62 season, the man averaged a triple-double.... for the ENTIRE SEASON!
30.8 ppg
12.5 reb
11.4 asst
He was within 1 rebound or 1 assist of doing it 4 more times.
Plus, he was only 6' 5" - and he was one hell of a defender, too.
He would have been named "Defensive Player of the Year" several times if the award existed, at that time.

Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt's been retired for 33 years, and still has more 60 pt games than everyone else in the history of the NBA combined....this was also true of 50 pt games for about 20 years after he retired... 55 rebounds in one game against BILL RUSSELL...and don't say he played against 6 foot white guys or something. His era was the golden age of the NBA center.

Jordan deff...Wilt Chamberlain was overrated, a 7 foot black guy in a league full of 6 foot white guys...Russel was amaing but not an amazing all around player like Jordan....Kareem was even more amazing but still not an amazing all around player.
