I have heard that its a good idea. When you next start the car the battery is not putting out extra juice, it puts it all to the starter, not the AC (a big draw down), or the radio.

Shutting off the A/C a few minutes before stopping allows the condensation that usually occurs a chance to dry a little. It can be useful to minimize the growth of mold and that horrible A/C smell when you first turn on the vehicle.

As for the radio, the current draw is negligible and doesn't do anything to really protect the vehicle.

It probably won't hurt anything by turning them off before shutting off the vehicle, but I don't believe there is any precedence to show that it's necessary

You can do whatever makes you feel good because it doesn't make a bit of difference one way or the other for either device. You would have to run the blower for 10 minutes with the AC off to dry the condensor enough to prevent mold or microbes, and the clutch will not engage immediately anyway. The radio draws about 5 milliamps with the key off whether the radio is turned on or off.
There are no safety or durability issues involved here.

Hello,
I do think it is important to turn the air condition and car radio off before turn the car key off. My reason is that if you don't turn them off first them you might keep the equipments in the "on" position. If that is the case, them the "on" equipment will be damaged easily by the electricity spike from the car battery system. Normally, all of the power system need 2-3 seconds before it become stable.

Protect it from what??? These accessories will not get power when you turn off the key, so there's really no difference.
