Either works, because the prime ingredient for a good education is not found in schools, it is found in the home. An involved parent, who works with their children, making sure they study, studying with them, and making sure they do their homework, is by far a greater source of strength than any school. Many a great leader came from very poor schools, but had parents who worked with and backed them. Also remember, many a poor leader came from private schools, that filled in for the role of uninvolved parents.

Upland, CA is a perfectly lovely town, but, as with all towns, some areas are better than others. If you are moving from out of the area, I would suggest renting for a year first so you can get a feel for which areas you prefer.

Private v. public school is a huge debate for many people. I feel public school is okay for the first few years where the class sizes are kept controlled and the kids aren't really a handful yet, but definitely from middle school on private. I also prefer girls or boys only schools to co-ed. There are a million things to consider, but ultimately if you can afford it, I think private school can be a better environment.

Bravo Papa Bear! Could not have said it any better myself.

There are good public schools. There are bad public schools. There are good private schools. There are bad private schools. You need to go visit and investigate different schools, both public and private, and determine which school or schools fit your needs best. Talk to parents, teachers, administrators, and students. You cannot make a valid judgement if you don't at least visit the schools.

I have only gone to public school and my kids... who are rather young have only gone to public schools. I would stick with public unless the public schools are not very good then go to private. But this is also coming from someone that can not afford private schools.

I think that it depends on the area and the actual schools. I live in upstate NY and many of our public schools have excellent reputations. Some of our private schools are so-so.

Private school is a much better environment to learn in. However, it is costly. I can say from my experience however, it is well worth the money, especially if u are to go into boarding life. You make really close friends. Mind you, the first few months are a difficult transition, but if you can get through that phase, the possibilities are endless.

I think a private school would be better than a public school but in a place where the government is doing okay well I guess a public school is okay.
