You ever hear the term you get what you pay for? It is probably a beat up old server sittings in some guy's basement. It probably has every other person that can only pay $5 a year to host a site and is incredibly slow. Trust me, you will get what you pay for from a web host.

They're cheap because of their volume of sales.
I would try to stay around $8 a month
( $3 a month sites are usually not very good )

I use bluehost and it works very well, it's reasonable & dependable. Important is the customer service to start. Call them in the morning, noon or night and see how they handle your call check sites that they host and then decide if its good for you.
