As I read through the various questions in yahoo answers I began to notice most of the questions were not only ignorant but of no help to others... And then we have the racist, sexist, and crude questions that could only be discribed as ... sad... Are we De-evolving? are we moving backwards instead of forward? If intelligent people are so far and few... how will I find someone to answer this question?

There is one very important factor you need to consider, and that is the fact that on the internet currently (as opposed to, say, in 1993), you can encounter people from almost all walks of life (of those walks which are in the English speaking world).

This means a lot of the people whose words and ideas you never would have encountered prior to the advent of the mass popularity of the internet (because no one would have ever bothered to publish them) are now free to "publish" at essentially zero cost, in terms of time and money and effort.

It may be the case that we are culturally devolving and it may be the case that we are biologically devolving (or, it may not). But I think the bulk of what you are noticing is due how the popularity of the internet changes the makeup of the pool of texts to which you have access (instead of the books in the library and the local paper, you now have access to the books in the library, everyone's local paper online, and various crude questions written by semi-literates). My suggestion for dealing with this is to get in the habit of ignoring the stupid things. (Even on Yahoo Answers, there are thoughtful questions inbetween the crude ones written by semi-literates.)

"If intelligent people are so far and few... how will I find someone to answer this question?"

Luck.

you know what I see in here? alot of boredom
it's great when people ask questions that they really would love to have an answer to, and when people try to answer them honestly and with the other persons best interest in mind. unfortunately, alot of people come on here, with nothing better to do, then to jot down a bunch of meaningless words, compiled into meaningless sentences, that they really don't give a hoot about anyway. boredom my dear, shear boredom. they are not ignorant or mean for the most part... just have nothing better to do..

Jessie, Some people are so stupid that they shouldn't even qualify as being "human" but unfortunaley they have maintained the ability to type. I feel your pain. I'm starting to believe that with so many stupid people roaming the earth that even the animals look at us and roll their eyes in disbelief.
