POLICY?
Insults have gotten so bad that I can't answer just ONE question without seeing in other answers things like, "you are stupid.' And it goes both ways... democrats or republicans.
I am serious. I have been answering question for only about 15 minutes today and have already had to report 5 ppl. And then when I think I have found a serious question, what do I see, insulting answers to some guy's very serious question.
It is quite pathetic and is going to run off intelligent, descent ppl who want to participate at a mature level.
I think there should be a NO TOLERANCE stance where one strike = banned. Obviously the current system is not working because we are getting overran by immature children that will not behave no matter how many violations they get.

I have to agree with you a little bit, it's definitely bugged me, like when I gave a smart, reasonable, well thought out answer to convince the author of a ridiculously anti-Semitic question that he might sort of have the wrong idea and the best answer went to a guy that said "yeah the jews are c**p" or something like that. There was also this other guy with a picture of a sheik on his profile asking only "Is America more than Big Macs, porn, and Britney Spears", and about a hundred people answered him with comments like "you are a terrorist", and "go f**k your wife in Saudi Arabia because if you find out she's a virgin you'll kill her."
There is no reason to say this stuff, and these people don't even know what they're saying!! It just so happens that the asker of the question wasn't even Muslim, he just had a picture!
One strike and you're out I don't really like, though, because I sometimes answer really nasty questions like the one before, where I politely disagree with the person, and I might then get reported and lose my place. I'm sure people would abuse it.

I totally agree with you. I hate it when people ask questions for the sole purpose of being insulting. Anyone who asks a questions like "why are libs/neocons so stupid/gay/ignorant?" Should get kicked off. They are clearly not taking this seriously, and they are clearly 13. A separate adults-only yahoo answers would cut down on a lot of this, I think. People answer questions, too, like they've been personally insulted when someone is asking serious questions about court procedures or government policy. I mean really!

Amen. I'm starting to think that questions need to be preapproved. I despise most censorship, and I really love the open-ended exchange of ideas here, but the inanity is getting out of hand. I have to wade through several pages to find legitimate questions. There is way too much mindless racism on here as well.

Yes you are right on this and this thing you are talking about happens in Spanish yahoo too. It is always intolerance, insults, vulgarity...people who come back to make the same questions or to answer the same but they do it with different nicks...pretty annoying. I know the thing of free speech but it should not be vulgarity, intolerance, racism

Someone died for their freedom to say what they want in this country, and just because it offends YOU, doesn't give you the right to act like Edna.
Get real. If you don't like it, don't read it. It's not like you're Yahoo Answers' vigilante. You're an American citizen, just like most of us, and someone gave you the right of freedom of speech. That doesn't give YOU the right to take that away from everyone else.
Someone on here is about to think that YOU'RE stupid for posting such crap.
