How old is civilisation? Warring between factions, whether they be tribes, clans, settlements or religious cultures has been going on since time immemorial. We purport to live in civilised societies, don't we, but deep down we remain intolerant of other people around us. Different cultures allow a rich and varied society to enjoy and experience ... the downside is that people seek power and that always causes trouble. Just think of the Irish situation and more latterly the Israeli/Arab dissention. You only have to give people a label and they are instantly different ..... but to achieve what you are asking for will take all of these people to start talking from their hearts only ...... everyone is human, we all breathe the same air and farm the same soil ....... we all suffer from the same illnesses and stresses in life .... we have a lot in common .... we just fail to see it. But combine this power with fear and you have an almost impenetrable wall .... we need to break that down with visions of the above ...... that is a very, very tall order and will simply never happen unless guided by some higher authority.
In the meantime, the important thing to remember is that no culture is uniquely to blame for such a troubled world ... it always takes two to war ......and where law and order breaks down, the trouble starts. For the future? ..... we can only wait and see .......

I believe so. The only thing I can think of is education. Educate the people of the world about the world. With religion it becomes difficult, because dogmatism and peoples personal beliefs play a major role. Try sending a missionary group to the middle east, and see how things turn out. It wouldn't be good. Even if they were just there to educate and inform the Muslim people of christianity, not press their beliefs, it is hard to educate someone of your beliefs without pressing them to believe it. Heres and experiment, just to get an idea. Have a conversation about religion with a person of a different belief than you, if you are a strong believer in something. Try ONLY to educate them about it, and see how they react. Also pay attention to what the person says and how you react to it. I do this a lot, and religious conversation is one of the best things you can do for yourself and others, as long as you or the others are not offensive.

Life is not a dream but is like a dream. When you dream, if you become afraid then more frightening things will happen. Same phenomenon occurs in life. If you expect beauty, beautiful things occur. This also happens in life. Silly thoughts manifest as silly events whether dreaming or awake.

The main difference between dreaming and waking is the scale of events that follow. When you dream, you're the only one making it up. When you're awake, your vision collaborates with everyone else that's around you. People who are closest to you are most influenced by your attitude, but others you've never seen are influenced by those who have been influenced by those who have been influenced by you.

If you're afraid, you create a more frightening world for everyone to some degree. If you're loving, you create a more loving world.

So to answer your question, we do make it real. Another word for this is faith.

I know a place, where this happens on a daily basis. It's called my place of work.
Okay I work in a factory and we do have Muslims,Christians,Jews amd we all work together have a real good laugh.
I have asked the very same question to myself many times.
If we could all do this and accept each other wouldnt the world be a peacefull place to be.

People would have to really grow up for that to happen. They would have to start being tolerant instead of just saying they were so and they would have to stop insulting each other, acquire intelligence and love one another. Now I think that if they did this they most probably wouldn't want or need religion, because they would have to either get rid of or supress the things which caused divisions between them.

You're dreaming of a democratic world embraced by people who are theocrats. I can't see it happening whilst people believe their own myths are the truth.
Listen to the lyrics of Imagine by John Lennon. For an irritating Scouse git, he makes a powerful plea.

Our different cultures are too disparote to work together well. The only way, would probably to segregrate the cultures. Multi-culturalism only works if you work hard at it, and that is EVERYONE works hard at it.

Unfortionately, there is a lot of arrogance around, i.e. "my religion/way of life/culture/way of doing things" is the best, in fact the ONLY way.

I dream as well, but will continue to dream till the end! I just hope it comes sooner rather than later..

What can be dreamed can be done!! I believe your dreams will come true as the time goes by. Even thou it seems to getting less hope, but dont be discouraged!! I believe that isnt only you who wants the same thing. World Peace. My suggestion to achieve that??? It starts from your self. Love your environment, dont be racist, be the model from your surrounding!! So they can see you as the person who wants the peace and will follow you through..

Does it answer your question??? Hope it does.... I dream the same thing as you...

What you are talking about is a society of moral, tolerant, rational people. I don't believe those people would care to partake in those religions. Religions, governments, race, all of our differneces that you percieve to cause conflict are not the real issues. The problem is humanitiy, people are too arrogant, self-rightous and full of pride to realize their own stupidity.
