What's this business about 9/11 not happening if Gore were President? The 9/11 terrorists had been training for it since 1996! Al Quaeda attacked us multiple times while he was Vice President: USS Cole, Khobar Towers, and the embassies in Africa are stark examples.
And no, we would not be in Iraq under President Gore. We'd be fighting Hezbollah and Al Quaeda house-to-house in Kansas City while their muezzins issued the call to prayer from the roof of the Lincoln Memorial.

Of course we wouldn't! Even before Dubya stole the 2000 election, the Neocons declared openly that it was their intention to go to war in Iraq if they were elected. When 9/11 happened, Dubya used the craziness & fear & patriotism that followed to start this war that he (& Carl Rove) had wanted all along. They can no longer claim that they started the war due to false intellegence. They wanted the war, they ignored what they SHOULD have been doing after 9/11 (fighting actual terrorists) and they lied and they bullied to get the war they wanted.
That's simply a fact.
Now, I suppose it's a matter of opinion if NOT being in this endless, stupid war would have been better in the long run. But, hey, it may have been worth it, as we seemed to stabilized the Middle East by spreading democracy!

Maybe he would have paid attention when the NSA report "bin Laden determined to attack U.S. with commerical jets" came in? Or at least he wouldn't have escorted the bin Laden family out of the country when 9-11 happened. He probably would have actually fought a war with a country that had something to do with 9-11.
Wait a second, 9-11 happened when Bush was at the healm. How come everyone treated him as a hero for that?
War is certainly useful--generally guarantees re-election (it worked!)

Iraq? No. Afghanistan? Absolutely. And we would not have lost our focus on catching and punishing Osama Bin Laden. And we'd probably still have the support of most countries in the world, even the Muslim-majority ones, in our hunt.

We would probably have gone to Iraq regardless of who was the President. And republicans would be all up in arms fighting against the war. Politics are ugly and get in the way of real progress. Sigh...

probably...
like the president is the one with any say-so or real power...
He is just a frontman, a puppet.
So yes, I think we would and the only good thing that would've come out of having Gore as prez would be he would not have time to make movies
