I put mine in the top drawer because that's what I change most, and with them being in the top drawer, they are easily accessible.

Most people put underwear on first, therefore top drawer. In addtion, dressers have been made with the small drawers on top where the underwear fits. The large drawers for sweaters and pants on on the bottom.

Actually, my shirts are in the top drawers;
Underwear/Pants in the middle drawer;
and the socks are in the lower drawer because, well, they are closer to the feet.
My rule: the drawer that is closest to the dressed body part stores the clothes for that body part.

1. is t-shirts,
2. is underwear
3. is white socks
4. is colored socks
5. is swim trunks and some gym shorts

top drawers are generally smaller in size than the other drawers and underwear and socks take up less space than any other article of clothing that you put in drawers.

I do it because, that is the first thing i put on in the morning, my socks and bras are in the same draw., and that's how my mom always did it , and i do tons of things like she does. its the way i was raised.

maybe it's because it's something we use the most kind of like all my favourite shirts are in the front.
or it's so we don't upset the underwear gods!
