Low thyroid levels means that your thyroid gland isn't producing enough of the hormone that your body needs for cell metabolism. This is why individuals with Hypothyroidism seem to be sluggish and have an increased tendency to gain weight. In dealing with pregnancy, it is important to have normal thyroid levels for proper development of the child. I doubt there is any serious problem, as stated, it's always a precaution to check. Follow your Doc, and everything should be fine. Wishing all the best to this expansion to your family!

I am not a doctor but would like to answer this question. Your thyroid has a lot to do with a persons body.
There is medicine that she can take to raise her thyroid level and also will not harm the baby.
I had to have my thyroid removed due to my open heart surgery. You can not live without a thyroid or thyroid medicine.
The meds that the doctor will give her will make her have a little more energy. I keep a constant eye on mine.
I do pray that all will go well.

I have low thyroid. It is a disease that is hereditary. When you have low thyroid your body doesn't produce enough of one hormone that gives you energy. It can be fixed with a simple pill that you take everyday for the rest of your life. I found out that I have thyroid disease about 7 months ago and that it causes infertility. Me and my husband have been married for 6 1/2 years and I am now 3 months pregnant with our first baby because the doctor put me on the meds to fix it.. During pregnancy the mg of the pill may have to be changed but its nothing to worry about.

Thyroid controls your metabolism. If yours is slow, you could be overweight or gain weight easily. Vice versa for a highly active thyroid. Obese or severly underweight women have more complications and are less likely to have a healthy baby. Good Luck!

Ask the doctor. I think a very low thyroid level is associated with risk of miscarriage. She should get it treated ASAP.

most of the time it causes lack of energy, but it can cause things like dry skin, intolerance to heat or cold, depression, memory loss, easy fatigue, muscle weakness, infertility, PMS, sleep disturbances, loss of hair, dry skin, heart palpitations, circulatory problems, emotional instability, inability to lose weight, frequent infections, allergies, digestive problems, constipation, anemia, elevated cholesterol levels.
