Say you know this person's wife/husband very well (i.e., best friends, siblings, etc.), and the person made a move on you. If you weren't open to their advances, would you just let it go and keep it to yourself, or would you tell on them? Would it flatter you? If you would tell, how far would they have to go before you'd rat them out?

The reason I ask is because I want to know how people think my sister-in-law might react if I approached her. She is close to my wife, but I think she might be interested in me and I wouldn't want to pass that up. Can it really hurt to ask, "hey, I know I'm married to your sister and all, but are you interested in me at all?"

I wouldn't tell, nothing happened to tell. If you tell you run the risk of being called a liar and ruining a friendship. I would just tell the person that unless they stop it you are going to tell their spouse.

"The reason I ask is because I want to know how people think my sister-in-law might react if I approached her. She is close to my wife, but I think she might be interested in me and I wouldn't want to pass that up."

I truly hope you aren't hinting that you would actually consider messing around with her.

Put yourself in your wife's shoes. What if you were deeply in love with your wife, trusting her with your life. Then all of a sudden, gee, your brother thinks she is sexy. There is a mutual attraction. So one day while you are at work your brother decides to drop by for a little social visit. You know, brotherly love. Your wife has been bored with you, and sees your brother as someone new and exciting. She thinks, "Oh, what the hey. Nobody will ever know." So they have sex. It is good. It is even better than you. So it becomes an affair.

Then one day you decide to come home early for lunch, because you miss your wife. There in the drive you see your brother's car. You really don't think anything of it, because you trust your brother, and you trust your wife. You walk in. Nobody is in sight. You call out and nobody answers. You stop and listen. From your bedroom you hear familiar sounds. You quietly walk to the bedroom door, putting your ear to the door to listen. Sure enough, you weren't imagining things. You open the door to see your brother and wife in action.

So, how do you think you would feel? Maybe this scenario helped to put things in perspective for you. I sure hope so. Anyone who even seriously contemplates acting on an attraction that takes them outside the marriage at a minimum should be publicly flogged by their spouse.

i would tell regardless if i was flattered or not. this person needs to be true to my buddy, sis, etc. if the spouse is coming on to you they are doing it with other people and succeeding! If it is all in fun then my buddy, sis, etc. won't mind but if this person is serious then they need to be ratted out before STDs get involved or babies get made!

It might flatter me, but I'd tell them to bug off. The 2nd time I'd made sure their spouse would know.
