Get the 4.3 you won't be disappointed. I've had both and got just as good of gas mileage on the 4.3 as on the 2.2. Plus the 4.3 has a lot of power. It is a very strong reliable engine.

About 110bhp for the 2.2 Liter, about 165bhp for the 4.3 Liter.

I have a 4.3 liter S-10 Blazer. I think the horsepower is around 180.
