I would not have one by choice. I find them extremely unappealing.
But if forced, it would have to be somewhere where no one could see it. And i guess it would have to look "natural", so i could blame it on a congenital birthmark, or something like that.
("Scar" on the sole of my foot, maybe?)

I have one tatoo and I do like them. I will likely get no more however, because I am on blood thinner (quite possibly for life due to a previously undiagnosed genetic condtion). My thing is, a tatoo has to be something that would be true about you, even if you were 84 drving an RV to the senior campground in Florida. I have a MomoCorse logo (Italian race supply company, I used to club race cars) and I still have their gear on my street cars. I get comments on it occassionally (on my upper arm, so at pool or working out) and it always make sme smile. It is a tatoo for me, not for others. so it is really pretty selfish.
I had hoped to get more, with a shark on my lower leg, its tail wrpaping up ward on my leg and an open book on my back left shoulder. On one page would be my family name, and on the other my name, wife, and kids. On my other shoulder, I wanted to get a bird (actually one from a Magic the Gathering card illustration)., and on my other upper arm, an Ocean City MD flag. All of that is unlikely to happen now though.

You asked if you HAD to get a tattoo, not if you wanted to get one. I wanted a tattoo but didn't know what to get. So when I graduated from Army jump school I got a paratrooper tattoo. I got a set of jump wings. So if you get one, get one in something you are interested in something you like. Not just some mindless design that has no meaning. I'm proud of my tattoo and have never regretted it. I've had my tattoo for forty three years. :)

I would get an elegant but small butterly tattooed on my hip/upper butt area, or maybe at the bottom of my spine...right above my butt-crack. But really, I would never get a tattoo because I don't like to torture myself with pain. Butterfly would be cute, though.

If I was gonna get a tattoo, I would get the Chinese symbol for happiness. But I'll probably never get a tattoo because my pain thresh hold is very very low!

I have three tattoos a dolphin on my right arm because I love them, I have a sun between my shoulder blades, 3 of my friends had it done too, to remind us of our first all girls holiday that we went on after our kids had grown up and I have three hearts on my lower back, one heart for each of my children.

I already have 4-a rose on my ankle, a cross on my shoulder, a tribal unicorn on my lower back, and a sea turtle on my breast. All mean something significant to me and are well-thought out. I still would like to get a tree frog yet.
