1. Swallowing Granma by Kate Long. Its about a love-hate relationship between granma & granddaughter, funny book.

2. Bee Season by Myla Goldberg. About this girl who is really good at spelling bees, but not other things. Think they made this into a movie and Richard Gere acted in it.

3. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Its about a girl who ran away from her father and brought along her house keeper and stayed with another family. Nice.

Contact by Carl Sagen is a great book, and an even better audio book, read by Jodie Foster. Excellent stuff!

the sisterhood of the travelling pants books are fun light reads. Also, The giver by lois lowry is pretty good, but it's more science fiction, still very good though
