You have to take it out of the wrapper first...did you? Then you have to use the applicator to put it in...did you do that? I ask because I know of someone who put the whole thing in and did not use the applicator....the cotton part should be the only part in the vagina..not the cardboard part. If you are using it correctly, try the smaller ones or use a pad instead....good luck!

Try a smaller size, or a junior one. And make sure it's the plastic applicator kind.
Ok, I don't say this to be gross, but when you took it out, was it really 'soaked' or still pretty dry looking? If it's kind of dry then it will hurt when you take it out. (that's not to say you need to leave it in longer- please don't- you just need a lighter absorbancy) And if your flow isn't very heavy you may be a bit too 'dry' down there for one to slide in comfortably.
To make it go all the way in, make sure that you are inserting the applicator in far anough first (reading the directions is helpful, if you've never actually taken the time to read them) So once you get it in, give the string a little pull to see if it's all the way up where it needs to be. The pull on the string should tell you- it's should feel like it's in there pretty good.
As funny as it might sound- it really does take practice! So just keep trying and be patient.

First, use the smallest tampons you can find. I think there is a slender fit by Tampax. Secondly, try a plastic applicator. It helps slide in easier. If you can't find a slender fit with a plastic applicator, get a box of Tampax Pearls that come on light, regular and super. Just use the light ones.
The reason it hurt when it came out was because it was still dry. That's why i suggest using a smaller absorbancy.

Try tampax pearls...they have a smoother applicator that's less intrusive than the cardboard ones. Those can hurt even when you are used to them. Also, be careful to hold your lips open with one hand, so you don't pinch yourself when the applicator closes. Also, I sit down when I do this, because my muscles tense up when I'm standing. Sounds like that might be the problem you're having, cause I know that can really hurt if you try to force it in. It can hurt coming back out for the same reason.
My advice.... Sit down and try to relax. Sometimes when I'm really dry, my muscles tense up anyway...try some KY jelly to help ease things in or just put a pad on and try again in a little bit. I have to do that sometimes, wait until my muscles stop clamping down. And believe it or not, I've even tried masturbating while sitting on the toilet just to relax (only works sometimes as sometimes I'm just too impatient). The key is not to force it.
Also might try a different angle as sometimes I just haven't quite got the angle right. I aim the end of the tampon down a bit more towards the floor you know, (so that the tip inside me is pointed more towards my lower back) and it gets it in better.
Good luck. :)

OK..... I had the same problem when I first started useing tampons. If you are haveing problems inserting your tampon or pulling it out it could be because you are not lubricated well enough for it to slide in comfortably. This could also be due to the position you are in when you are trying to insert it. I found that it sometimes helped to lay down and insert the tampon... Laying down will help you control how far you insert it and if your nervouse, could help you control the speed that you insert it. I say if it hurts dont do it but i do think tampons are a more sanitary solution for your period. I would advise against petrolium jelly to lubricate the tampon.. Petroleum jelly can lead to a yeast ifection and no one wants one of those. If you do choose to lubricate I would stick with KY jelly or something made just for your vagina. Good Luck !

Tampons can hurt when your first using them. Period. If your tampon was dry (no blood) that can kill to take it out and you should leave it in longer. Putting it in just takes practice. Try using lubricating jell. It helps the tampon slide into the right place w/o hurting.

It sounds like you´re using tampons that are too big. If you´re using the regular or super size you should switch to the slender junior size. If the smallest size tampon still doesn´t fit you should stop using them altogether and just stick to pads.

maybe you should try a different brand of tampons, some are more conforatble then other. maybe try different absorbency, usually its the less absorbency-the smaller the tampon. then you take it out, it already absorbed your blood and became larger in size, thats why it hurts. when you dont put it deep enough, its gonna hurt because they tip will bother you. and maybe you are too young to use tampons.

I used to have the same problem when I first started to having my periods. STOP Stressing!!!!!! You're thinking about it way too much/hard. Just relax when you do it you'll be OK. Also make sure that your lubricated enough. If it still doesn't work out for you just go w/ sanitary napkins. Remember, RELAX!!

The only advice that I can give you is to read the insert on "How to insert a tampon." You must not be inserting the whole way up.
