I am very frustrated! I'm thrilled that I am pregnant with a very healthy and active baby girl! However, I'm 19 1/2 weeks pregnant and am already up 14 pounds. Is that normal? I am 5' 8'' and weighed 130 to start with...am continuing to exercise and eat as I had before pregnancy. I don't want to lose any weight, but I'm scared that I'm going to gain too much! Should I be this stressed out? The husband thinks I'm nuts right now. :)

it can be normal but it can also be aproching the high side... you should talk to your ob to calculate how much may be too much for you. the current recommendation is less than 40lbs is safe but 40lbs or more put both you and your baby at risk for health problems.

normally you want to gain less than four pounds during your first trimester (you shouldn't gain any fat at this point but may retain water)
after week 12 you should gain .8 - 1.1lbs/wk
because you are tall it may be in the upper range or slightly above normal.

at 20weeks normal weight gain would be between 6 and 13lbs

Don't get frustrated because with my 1st child I gained 72pds. Now I am 20 weeks and I am 5'3 before pregnancy my weight was 124pds and now I am 133pds so far I gained only 9pds so I am kind of concerned That I might be underweight compared to my previous pregnancy. The thing is with my 1st pregnancy I gained weight everywhere on my body, now I only gained weight on my belly, so that really makes me think I am going to have a girl. Well Congrats..

It's Normal to gain that much weight.. It's cause the baby has all the fluids and all the other stuff in your belly.. Don't try to lose weight but be careful and dont just eat all the time and make you gain weight everywhere

I think that it's normal but just remember that you have to work it off in the end. My doctor told me that between 30-35 pounds was okay. Good Luck.

check w/doc for what falls in 'normal' range for your body type. too much weight good lead to gestational diabetes. but if you watching your diet to try and keep some type of figure you're going to have to let that go right now because your main concern should be on baby and what is healthy for him/her. congrats and good luck.

Seems normal based on what you should gain overall. Check out this site for more information. Congratulations!

When the body finds out its pregnant it begins to store fat. The amount of fat can very from person to person. so in your case yes and if yuo have questions on your gain ask your doctor.
