This is a kind of unit for measurement for anything.

Before we don't have any idea about decimal we were not able to find the distance between earth and moon and we can not calculate how much additional fuel and speed we need for a rocket to go there.
see these all are similar value
99*99=9801

99.99*99.99=9998.0001

now 100*100=10000
but there is big difference in value and for the scientific reason this two can make u spend million doll er.

Because some things in life are critically important, and must be measured more accurately than rounding to the nearest whole number.

Especially in electronics where most things are measured in fractions of an amp. For example, the computer you are typing this question with would not be possible.

because when you are measuring most things that are important in the scientific world, like atoms, etc, you get down to very very very small numbers, and without a decimail, you would not be able to measure them with any acuracy. The number 1 in the scientific world, is as big as the number 1 trillion times 1 trillion, to you and me.

As the useful advice given by USELESSADVICE , it is the point separating whole numbers and fractions. It only indictes that
abcd . efgh = a(10^3) +b(10^2) + c(10^1) + d(10^0)
+ e[10^(-1)] + f[10^(-2)] + g[10^(-3)] + h[10^(-4)].
Hope you will selecct this as the best answer!
