So the answer is endless U.S. occupation of Iraq in order to contain Iran??? That argument would be laughable if it wasn't so scary.
U.S. occupation is why Iran is gaining in strength and influence in the region. The U.S. is being viewed as a new colonial power & Iran is being seen by the Arab populations as the only regional force powerful enough to withstand a U.S. attack (even though they aren't at the moment.) The longer the U.S. is there, the stronger Iran will become.

Because we are the ones that destabilized the whole region by illegally attacking Iraq. We are the CAUSE of Iran wanting to take over the region AND the reason that they can!!!!
Hate to bust your bubble, but we don't have the troops to attack Iran, or anyone else! We can't even stop an aircraft from hitting the trade canter!

Because it's all about "control"...who is controlling the oil fields. We have no business being there and under dubious circumstances as it is. Our people are dying over there and so are innocent people so large corporations can make more profit...and that's the ONLY reason we are there, regardless of what Dubya says. I think it's time we used ethanol instead of oil and looked to new ways to run our SUVs and power our homes. I dont think it's worth the ultimate sacrifice so that some CEO can make another couple million or stocks can go up at Exxon.

Look at http://www.iraqbodycount.net/ and tell me if that isn't good enough reason for you. The purpose of a country's military should be to provide defense and not go on the offensive or imperalise.
