Often called the sixth man on the offensive line. His position is dual. He does line up on the offensive line and can be utilized as an additional blocker. However, unlike offensive lineman he is allowed to catch the ball without informing the referee he is an optional reciever before each play. They are also used for shifts in formations and occassionally line-up or move to a reciever slot.
