We are thinking of heading there in March for a large family vacation, there will be a total of about 15 people and 6 will be kids, all under 12 years old, is there anything to keep them interested during the day? Night time will be for the grown ups, and we are bringing a nanny for that, but is there stuff we could all do together during the day?

Just one night let the kids stay up late & take them to Freemont Street. That is a great place for the family. March isn't to bad for the crazies. Go there on a week day evening to be even safer. They have cheap drinks down there one can find cheap tickets to other areas & attractions. There is a Krispy Kream Doughnuts on freemont, live entertainment plus the Giant Freemont Experience video screen covering 2-3 blocks.

At the Hilton there is the Star Trek Experience, you can get cheap tickets on Freemont. The monorail can get you to almost every hotel on the Strip. The Sahara has Speed the ride(it's $$$$) Behide the Sahara just off the Strip is "The Drive" performance park. You can take a Corvette for a drive with a professional racer in the passenger seat, then go take an H2 Hummer for an off road trek, it only cost $10 and you must have a valid licence & be sober. I have pics of my trip I took this past June on my 360 page.

Hit New York New York & ride their coaster( that ones a must). Some time when your near the Balagio you have to see the fountains( that's free) as is the show in front of Treasure Island & Inside Ceasars Palace. The MGM has the Lions, The Mirage has a dolphin and animal sanctuary.

There is alot you can do as a family. Alot of the risque shows have an early & a late so the early show is a little tamer.
Go have fun.

Honestly...there are some things for the kids, and you will see several people with children, but it is not set up for kids. I would make certain there is a pool for the kids to swim in, and you find the easiest route to get them to some of the hotel arcades, and amusement park rides!! Several of the larger Hotels boast gaming/arcade like areas in the bottom floors! Look on line...I know for a fact many of the free shows are family oriented, and can be seen on the outsides of the casinos! I personally thought Circus Circus was a crock, but then they might have improved it since my visit there! I do know they are voted worst food BUFFET on the Strip! lol I am a believer that Las Vegas is not the best place for kids, but if a family wants to go to Vegas for a vacation, there are lots of appropriate things there for the kids to do and some great nearly places to take the whole family, you just need to look for them. Valley of Fire State Park to see the Petroglyphs, Grand Canyon, Metor Crator, Zion, Bryce, Hoover Dam... etc.

In Vegas itself, a trip to the top of the Stratesphere is a destination all by itself- as is the Volcano and the recreated art at the Venetian, the Fountains, and the tigers at Ceasars Palace.
As long as parents propertly supervise the kids, there is so much for the kids to see that is appropriate in Vegas and nearby! Plus...remember a pool!!!!

People say Vegas is no place for kids but alot of places are kid-friendly now having the day for the kids and night time for yourselves is the perfect idea. Have alot of cash on hands because the video games, simulated rides and rolller coasters add up but some good places are :
-Circus Circus -Adventure dome,
-ESPN zone in NY NY has a cool arcade and a nice bar and grill restaurant with several 14 foot tv screens, (they even have a section with lazy boy chairs)
-MGM grand has a cool arcade
-Excaibur has a nice small arcade where you gain tickets as you play and can turn them in for prizes, and cool simulated rides for the whole family
-Rollercoasters are at NY NY,, Sahara, and the Stratosphere
-Animals - there's the Secret garden and dolphin and lion habitat at the Mirage
and the Shark reef at Mandalay bay
*there is a water park and mini grand prix for kids that's also fun check out
this site for more info. Good luck I'm sure you'll have a great time!

March is a good time to go... still cool, not too hot at all.

There is PLENTY to do for kids in Vegas. Although it will cost you. Research the hotels at their websites and figure out what each hotel offers. Some have magic shows, IMAX theaters, some have rides, some you buy an all day pass and they can do all the things the hotel offers. Some have game rooms, etc, etc.

My wife and I stayed in Luxor and Excalibur this past May and really liked it alot. Luxor had several things for kids to do.

Dont get me wrong... Vegas is geared for adults. its like a grown up playground... but of you plan it right, it will work out fine with kids. We saw lots of kids around.

PS.. I have to just say although Circus Circus is themed for kids... its the worst dumpiest hotel on the strip. I wouldnt let my kids roam around there. There are probably child predators in that place. The lowest form of life congregate in Circus Circus. Go there for a couple hours and see firsthand, but dont stay in that hotel and dont spend much time there. ITS HORRIBLE!

Circus Circus, you can go to the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur Hotel, there is always a day trip to the petroglyphs or to the Grand Canyon, There's the M&M store across from NY NY ... The game area/Imax at the Luxor, the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage ...

There's alot kids can do, and not very hard to discover while you are there.

day trips to the Hoover Dam , the Grand Caynon and head towards CA and you can be in the 70 degree weather one minute and snow the next, this is a great suprise if the kids have not experienced that before. The Hilton has Star Trek museum if they are into that and so forth. the below link has kid friendly things

Think it might still be cool in March for pools but there are many attractions for kids. It is a problem because of security. You have to walk straight through casino without stopping with the kids. Have a good time

Go check out some of the state parks. I especially like the ones near the mountains, then you can take a hike.
Circus Circus is a great place for a day trip, the indoor theme park is amazing.

Bad idea for a family vacation.
I went there with my stepmom, dad, grandma, and aunt when I was 14 and I was bored. We went shopping in the day but there was nothing to do at night but look at the volcano at the Mirage and such. I could tell my family was bored because they couldnt bring me to do some things they wanted to do. I remember walking along the Vegas strip and having people put flyers in my hand with naked women on it, advertising strip clubs and such.
