I have never had the privilege to serve in our armed forces but have great admiration and respect for soldiers that did. I owe my freedom to them. With out them we would be under Nazi control.

I'm in the military and I have not killed anyone. Move to Israel were everyone has to serve at least 2 years in the military.
No it does not make you unpatriotic at all. I joined the military because I love the US and would do anything to defend it so my child can always live free. Does that make me MORE patriotic than you! I can't answer that. I do not want to kill anyone either that's why I am a electronics specialist for early warning radar systems.
How do some military people believe they are more entitled to this country than non military people? All Americans are entitled to this country but people who work, fight and die for this country should be recognized more so than those who just sit back and reap the benefits.

I've fought and killed for this Country and I can tell you unequivocally: WAR SUCKS!!!
I do believe we have an obligation to try and resolve issues in any other way before we go to War.
The current Administration should have warned Airlines about the impending Terror Attacks and had them "Step Up" their security before 9/11 happened, but they didn't. So, we have to deal with the aftermath.
In this case War is about the only solution, but I for one, wish we would go about it in a smarter fashion. Get out of Iraq and try and "befriend" the people of the Middle East and have an ally in the War on Terror rather than a hindrance.
I do not believe I'm entitled to this Country any more than anyone else. But, I do believe I'm due some deference for the sacrifices that I have made for this country.

Because people in the military have to deal with alot of stuff such as being under government control 24/7,being away from family, war trauma(like after effects),not knowing when there time is up,fighting for people who don't appreciate it (like racists,complete-pacifists,etc).
Also they it must make them feel kind of good, rather than just being some guy who talks junk, but has never spent any thime thinking about what a soldier is done and accomplished.

Most men and women in the military understand what their jobs are for. It's for everybody, not just themselves. However because they are the ones who put their lives on the line, they no doubt do feel a little more like they deserve some respect, after all, they do. Most people don't want to kill anybody but sometimes there really is no choice. Even God says that if we are unwilling to defend our loved ones, we are cowards.

You may want to rethink your position. If someone was coming at you with a knife with intent to kill you, and you had a gun, would you shoot him or die yourself?
Also, the fact that you don't want to kill anyone doesn't make you unpatriotic, but it is possible that someone who goes to war doesn't want to kill anyone either, but he does so out of a sense of duty to protect people at home from death, and from having to kill. Those people you are speaking of, who feel they are more entitled to our country, feel that way because without the willingness to fight for freedom, we will lose it, and they feel that you do not have this willingness.
If a country is made up 100% of people who refuse to fight, then the country will be overrun by another power who will fight (austria and czechoslovakia pre WWII). Some people have to be willing to fight (but not everyone, just enough to protect the country).

They are proud and honorable...they are entitled to our respect and admiration...they offer their lives so you can go shopping, and get pedicures, hang out with your "girlfriends", so you can type THIS kind of question on your COMPUTER! They fight for our freedom. They are ready to lay down their lives for people like you. People they don't even know. Entitled YES, they are entitled. Just so you know, not everyone in the military is in the battle zone...some are behind the scenes, repairing the aircraft, working with the technology that helps keep us one step away from the enemy...Next time you see a soldier in his uniform...Take you little parts up to him and thank him for ensuring you the sweet life, by risking his OWN!!!!!

I've known a fair number of veterans and none of them thought that they were more entitled to this country than anyone else. However, most did feel that they deserve our respect for volunteering to potential die defending us, and I agree. Now, I don't mean to belittle your point, and I'm sure there are veterans who get overly self-righteous about this. I just want to make the point that not all of them feel that way.
As to your question about patriotism, no. You don't have to serve in the military to be a patriot. All it requires to be a patriot is to love our country, to care for it, and to work to make it better. You could do that as a teacher, an author, a historian, or outside of one's profession through volunteering.
By your even asking this question it is clear that you care about our country and want to make it a better place. Thus, knowing nothing else about you, I would have to assume you are patriotic.

Because if they hadn't killed the paople that they killed those people would have killed you. You take your freedom for granted like a spoiled brat. You should know that if it wasn't for the US military you'd either never have been bron or you would be growing up ina concentration camp. WAKE UP! Freedom isn't free! Their are people out there that want what you have and they will take it from you by force. The US military is the only thing stopping them from doing so.

Right now, the U.S. military is NOT fighting for us. They are not fighting for OUR freedom. They are not dieing for AMERICA. They are dieing for greedy foreign interests.
This war is Vietnam all over again. It was founded on false accusations. The evidence they promised has never come to light. They have already spent 300 times the original estimate. They have sacrificed over 2000 of our soldiers with nothing to show for it.
They have taken our liberty, they have taken our freedom, they have taken our soldiers, they have taken everything short of our lives. In some cases, even that has been taken from us.
Pearl harbor-the government let it happen to enter world war II
Vietnam-They lied about the attack on our destroyer ship, which is the story they gave the American people in order to entice them to allow the police action in Vietnam.
The evidence that the 1993 WTC attack, the Oklahoma city bombing and 9/11 were perpetrated by our government is overwhelming.
In all cases they pushed fascist laws that limited our freedoms and rights in the name of safety.
Seriously, I salute our boys in war for doing their job. But I will be damned if I ever support the people who sent them there. Who are passing laws that go against the very foundations of America.
That lie over and over again. That would break their own laws in order to make profit.
We are not the land of the scared and the safe.
We are the land of the free and the brave.
If you are not willing to fight for your rights, you will die for them.
