My baby brother dropped my phone is a cup of juice. I've taken it apart as best as I could and cleaned it, but I can't get it all the way apart. Is there any way to fix the phone? Will it dry out and still work?

the phone was on when it was dropped into the juice. After I took it apart and cleaned it, I put the battery back in and it tried to turn itself on (the backlight came on) but nothing happened. So I removed the battery and blowed it dry with a hairdryer. I haven't tried to turn it on.

When dealing with electronics, it's important that you not do the following:

A) Turn it on when it's wet. This may lead to short circuiting.

B) Don't take it apart. Well, unless you know what you are doing.

C) Read your policy and see if the warrenty covers it. Sometimes you can get a repleacement.

Now, if you've already got it open, I would reccomend that you swab the insides with a qtip and alchol. This will clean off the residue.

Believe it or not there is a slim chance it might work. I actuallly WASHED & DRYED mine by accident of course and it WORKED lol now keep in mind it was an phone no color or cams and all that jazz. My recomandation would be to let it dry out apart for a couple hours or a day or so and try it. If it doensn't work then I would recommed looking for a local cell phone repair shop and take it there have them look at it and they can give u an idea how much. Most likely they will tell u it will cost more then buying a new one. I think even if your still under warrenty most companys will not insure water damage no matter how accidental. Hope that Helps & Good Luck!!

I've had this happen before, but never with juice - only water. Take out the battery, and sim card, and take it apart as much as you can. Lay all items over the heat register in your house, or in a warm dry area - maybe even outside? The most important thing is to let ALL the moisture evaporate before even attempting to turn this back on! It could be a day or longer to be certain, but it's worked for me more than once. Good luck!

if it was a sugary drink i would highly recommend you dumping in a sink with fresh water only and shaking it vigarously to get an sugar out

REASON
sugar is electically conductive and will short out components if bridging two contacts

once you have done this, or if it wasnt a sugary drink, leave to dry naturally, do not use hairdryer or other drying equipment and leave it for at least a week to be sure it has dried through then test.

I once dropped an old handheld gameboy in a fish tank and did what i mentioned above, although i did lose the top line of graphics, the machine still worked..

couldnt see my score on it anymore, but swopped it for a master system 2

hope that works,

REMEMBER IF IT WAS SUGARY, RINSE IN FRESH WATER RIGHT NOW

Most likely not. If it was just water, there is a good chance that you could just let it dry out and it would be fine, but with stuff like juice and soda that get sugar into the circuitry, chances are its dead. You need to let it dry out for 24-48 hours before you try to use it again. Don't charge it or try to turn it on. If you do that and it still doesn't work, its dead. And DO NOT BLOW DRY IT. Some people try that and sometimes they don't completely ruin their phone, but most of the time they do and don't realize that their phone would have been ok if they hadn't.

Good news……..yes it can. Once you have it apart as far as you can get it, take the battery out, remove any of the parts that you can take out after that, place it on a plate and put it in the oven at its lowest setting for about four hours to dry it out. Remember on the lowest setting, you are trying to dry it out not cook it, plastic has a memory and if it gets too hot it will become misshapen. Once it has been dried let it cool, then re-assemble it, put the battery back in and turn it on. If it is dry and having been wet has not messed up the memory or messed up the display you should be good to go. My son had one that he dropped into the toilet (clear water) and he had only had it a few days. I did what I have stated above and he still has it three years later.

Yes, you can save your phone, if right after you get it wet (no more than a day) take out the battery and sim card and leave it open (if its a flip) leave it in a dry cool place and let it sit for at least 3 days. If you were prompt and quick about it you can save you phone, my motorolla razr got dropped in a tub and I did just that and it works fine.

My granny droppd her phone in sink and it worked after a day of drying on the dashboard of her car because the sun was hitting it but the air conditioner was keeping it cool..... I think extreme heat will not be good for it.... and my dad dropped his phone in a cup of hot coffee and it took 2 months or more.. he bought new phone and then he took it out and tried it a few months later and now my mom has a phone too... Hope this helps
