Well,S.O.S basically means "Save our Souls".Its a call sign used by Ships and other vessels during times of distress to alert emergency and Rescue Services.

S.P.F means Sun Protection Factor.Most Sun Screen Lotions Bear an S.P.F rating,usually Ranging Between 5 to 30,or more.The higher the number,the better the efficiency of the Sunscreen Lotion at Blocking out Harmful Ultra Violet rays of the Sun.

S.O.S is a call for help, no it doesn't mean save our souls.. it can mean anything.. in Morse code it was the easiest to use for a distress call (and no, it doesn't mean save our ship either) on a water craft.

S.P.F is sun protection factor or if you are reading gossip blogs it could mean Sean Preston Federline.

S.O.S. is rumored to be save our ship but who knows S.P.F. has something to do with sunblock, just where higher spfs if your white, it doesnt matter what it stands for.

s.o.s. doesn't actually mean anything. Some people have claimed it means "save our ship" or "save our souls" but that's not true. It was chosen to be a distress call because of the easy-to-use Morse code for those letters.

spf = sun protection factor

1. Didn't stand for anything originally.
2. Sun Protection Factor

Actually, SOS was chosen due to its simplicity in morse code. 'S' is three short tones and 'O' is three long tones so a distress signal is an easy-to-remember short-short-short long-long-long short-short-short. Over time people assumed that it actually stood for something but it really doesn't.

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, a number used to tell you the sun protection level of sunblock or sunscreen. A higher number indicates more protection. It basically means the amount of time you can extend your time in the sun and get the same amount of exposure. SPF 15 means you can spend 15 times as long in the sun before you get sunburnt vs. wearing no sunscreen.
