yes, but MS has so reduced the functionality of DOS that its mostly just for admins and computer repair specialists.

A better (in my opinion) option would be to install Linux (perhaps as a dual boot) to your computer. The command line is central to Linux, and you can experiment and learn a great deal. If you decide to do this, Ubuntu is a great distro. There is lots of Linux command line information available online. Good luck!

the command prompt is DOS, Disk operating system
chkdsk,cd,copy, fixdisk, fdisk(when you install a new harddrive)
google dos commands, you get an instant cheat sheet

you can learn it, theirs no point unless you plan on programming a computer or playing around with things along those lines. Stick to windows if your not computer savy
