well, to begin with, Lieberman's loss has nothing to do with how the American people feel or don't feel about the war...this was a primary in Connecticut, with only Democrats voting.
Lamont got 52% of the Dem vote to Joe's 48%... If Lieberman runs as an independent, those 48% will most likely still vote for him, abandoning Lamont and the Democrats.
That may or may not put a Republican in that Senate seat, but there is a very real chance that Lieberman could still win the general election, especially since he's likely to now get a lot of support from Republicans within the state.
Of course, something like what, 20% of registered Dems even bothered to show up for this primary? So there are still a lot of people to be heard from...
Lieberman found out who his friends are in the Democratic party...he doesn't have any...
Despite being their VP candidate a mere six years ago, and being a pretty liberal Senator for 18 years, that means nothing now... the Dems threw Joe under the bus... and we now know (not that we didn't already) that there is no diversity of thought allowed in the Democratic party... and I don't mind that, don't get me wrong... I just wish they'd admit how intolerant they are of people who don't agree with the party line...even one who's served them well in the Senate for 18 years.
If Lieberman runs as an independent, Lamont will lose the general election...either to the Republican candidate, or to Lieberman himself. Lamont's a lightweight and will be exposed as such.
Lieberman will certainly get a lot of pressure from democrats, including Bill Clinton, to step down and not run at all. As with Bob Torricelli in New Jersey, and Andrew Cuomo in New York (who were both 'persuaded' to step down from candidicies that would have harmed their party), members of Lieberman's family could be threatened....that's how serious the Dems are about him not running, just like the Torch and Cuomo...

Very good. This sends a message to the rest of the Democrats that democratic voters want their party to not just "Republican Lite".

Not from CT...
So long as Lieberman and Lamont don't split the Dem vote enough for a Republican to steal the seat I really don't care...

I think this is a good step for people who are tired of the 2 party system. I say good, b/c someone who is not just a PR dream (Jesse Ventura) will have a shot with a third party election.

Good for Republicans, Bad for Democrats.
As the Republicans and George Bush reach for their all time public opinion lows, is this REALLY such a good time for the Dems to show America just how mean-spirited and intolerant they actually are?
Just wondering...............
