I have been depressed many times and personally have needed medications to stay more even keel.
Some suggestions, other than traditional medications and therapy...are...
1. Move! Exercise, even if you don't feel like it. Force yourself.
2. Force yourself to be around people and get out of the house.
3. Keep in mind that it will end...like a flu or a cold...it feels lousy and if there is no hope, but it will be over eventually.
4. Don't feel guilty about it. That will only make you feel worse.
5. Find someone you can talk to about it or at least journal about it.
6. Look for local support groups, or even small groups for things that you used to be interested in.
Good luck!!!!

Yes. It is a normal thing. To overcome it, I read books. I highly recommend Chicken Soup books because it is loaded with real stories of people with depressing experiences but were able to move on because of PMA (positive mental attitude).

When I get depressed I tend to isolate myself from other people. The only thing that makes me feel better is breaking out of that and talking to someone about it. It can be the most difficult thing to do when I feel that way, but I know that it's the only thing that will help.

I never did overcome it. It's not as scary as people think it is. Learn to live with it. I did.

Yes I have been. The only way I got through it was by family support, going to church, and through prayer. Highly recommended, 100% guaranteed to work!
