No, not at all. Just a Acknowledgement of Paternity or a DNA test.

The baby does not need his last name to get child support but the fathers name needs to be on the birth certificate. If not I think you would need to take a blood test to verify that he is the father

Depends on your state laws. I would contact your county health department for that question. Some states require a manditory paternity test before you can even list the father of the baby if you were not married. Also ask them who you would contact to get child support. More than likely you will have to take the paternity test, then one everything comes back, the court will place his name on the birth certificate, if it's what he want, and then order him to pay child support, you should get some back pay as well. Go through DHR/DHS, they generally do not charge to help.

Your question is confusing. Are you asking if the baby has to have the fathers last name in order to get child support than the answer is no. Many single women give thier children thier last names it has no effect on the fathers fiscal responsibilities.

No - as long as the father accepts that he is responsible for the child, he will be ordered to pay child support. If he does not, a paternity test can fix that right up.

No. It is easier if a father acknowledges the child on the birth certificate, but a paternity test is all you need to get a child support ruling.

Hmmmmm.... For a woman to get the support she just has to prove who the father is by DNA testing. I'm not sure how to go about proving who the father is if the man has the baby?

Well what confuses me about this question is that your avatar is a man...hmmm.
I think what you are trying to ask is "Does my baby need the father's last name to receive child support?"
the answer is no

NOPE!! Don't let them tell you that. It isn't true. You can collect child support if your kid has your name. My daughter has my last name and that will be her last name until she gets married and takes on her husband's name, if she chooses to. The courts will ask what the last name will be and stand firm when you state that you want your last name. My reasoning was to keep our names the same for her school purpose, doctors visits, etc. I don't want to have to explain why our last names are not the same. just my personal preferrence.
