my top hi hat and my botom both have a dent in the bell and now it makes like a ringing sound after i hit it is that because of the dent in my bells?

Yes, it's because the cymbals don't reverberate true anymore.

You might be able to hammer it back into shape - that's your only choice other than opening your wallet.

Man, I've pounded on cymbals before and dented them but never noticed that makeing them ring...I'm a guitar player and maybe don't have an ear for drums like you do. I'm wondering if the dent you are talking about is causing the cybal to make different contact with the rod?
