The government (I think) tried to convert the system to metric in the late 70s or early 80s. It didn't work. The American public was very reluctant and resistant to change.

I think it would probably be a good idea since the rest of the world operates in the metric system. But,hey...what do I know?

we use the metric system a lot eventually we will convert it just takes time to get uses to the new system

it all depends who you want to trade with we changed to the metric system a few years ago in Canada I don't like it but the younger generation knows nothing else

There was a push to do so in the late 1960s early 1970s, and it went nowhere. We may try it again someday, but I suspect it will not be for another 20 years or so.

Metric is easier so US should convert.

I think they should. It would be quite the undertaking but at least it will have us talk to the whole world in their language. Who knows?! It might be a step towards world peace.

No. It would be too costly. Everyone would have to be re-educated. It would take forever for us to get used to.

definately not...our current system is what makes us special...we don't need to assimilate!
