OK poor Barry, all indications are this is his last season, and yet at his current rate, he will not pass Hank Aaron as all time home run hitter until 2010!! But I wonder if he will be blackballed from Hall of Fame as was Maguire? Just curious.

I hope the only way Bonds ever gets into the Hall of Fame is if he pays admission. Besides being a miserable excuse as a human being, he has the spectre of the steroid investigation hanging over his head and that will cost him a lot of votes.

Mark McGwire hasn't been blackballed yet, since he isn't eligible until next year. I do think, though, that the results of that election will tell us a lot about Bonds' chances. If Big Mac gets elected next year, or in the next few, then Bonds is a lock. Same goes for Big Mac being passed over - if that happens, then Barry could be in some trouble.

Even without breaking Aaron's record, Bonds is a lock if the voters don't take into account his possible (okay, very probable) steroid use, which they might not do given that he didn't break any baseball rules while using supplements. But if they can't get past that, then even 800 homers wouldn't likely be enough.

I really don't have a clear answer for that one. Perhaps he will get in, but from the way it's looking right now, the only honest answer that I can offer is "Maybe". A lot depends on how the season will finish and if his body can keep up the pace. He's already been on the dl for his OTHER knee, and as for his personality, that will be a long stretch.

If the rumors become true, then yes, he will be blackballed from the hall. There are so many that should be in the hall, but are not. Looks like he will join that list before he joins the hall...

Many people will shun him from the Hall because...
1. Of the accusations of steroid use.
2. He is such a dirty prick to the media.
Well, ok those two reasons basically.

He is still worthy (I feel) to be in the Hall. Listen, we all know he juiced, but bottom line: we are 99% sure -- not 100%. He never tested positive.

Without question the combination of old age, and the mental scrutiny Barry is going through is hindering great success this year. Look at the guy stats(over-all career)... They're phenomenal! He's a hall of famer, despite his attitude, and alleged 'ROID use.

If I am not mistaken the sports writers are the ones who vote players into the hall of fame. And it is no secret that the media has never liked Bonds very much because he would not cooperate with them or kiss their butts. With that in mind , and all the steroid stuff I find it hard to believe that he will ever get in. But personally I think he should get in based on all of his accomplishments in the game of baseball. Just being big and strong does not make you a great homerun hitter. There are lots of big strong guys that can't hit worth a darn. It is a skill that not many people have. And I'll just bet that a lot of athletes already in all of the various halls of fame did their share of juicing up in one way or another, I can't prove it but I believe it. Just like I can't prove that Bonds juiced up , but I believe it.

Of course Barry is headed to the Hall of Fame. Even though he cheated, he did break the single season HR record and I doubt that now that MLB started testing for steroids, no one will come close to beating that record. Although Pujols was on pace until he got injured. Now we wonder why power hitters never come close to hitting many HRs anymore, they got no more JUICE!

Bonds should be a first ballot Hall of Famer based on what he did before he was tainted by the steroid controversy. He has 700+ hr and 500+ sb.That doesn't even include his multiple Golden Gloves.IN ADDITION THE FIRST RANDOM CONFIDENTIAL SURVEY ON STEROID USE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF PITCHERS ON THE JUICE THAN HITTERS.THIS MEANS THAT MANY OF HIS HOME RUNS WERE HIT AGAINST " CHEATERS'. GET OFF HIS BACK .HE IS THE GREATEST PLAYER SINCE THE DAYS OF WILLIAMS,MUSIAL AND MAYS.

The sports writers are going to deliver a message about what they thiink of Barry Bonds as a human being.
The message will be delivered in one of two ways;
They will not elect him in the his fiirst year of eligibility but rather make him squirm for several years.
or They will simply not elect him at all and invoke the "character counts clause "of HOF rules

He will make it into the steroid Hall of Fame.
He will also make it into the baseball Hall of Fame. If he doesn't, he and his supporters will yell racism to divert from the steroid issue.
Don't get me wrong, he's a hell of a ballplayer, just
not Hall of Fame material.
