sounds like your power steering pump is overheating. The vains in the pump are probably shot and causing the the fluid to bubble and boil out.
Now as to your gear box leak: There natorious for that problem. The seal for the pitman arm is leaking. here's how to replace:

Tools Required:
Internal Snap Ring Pliers
Mark the position of the pitman arm to the pitman shaft.

Pitman arm.
Remove snap ring . Position a drain pan under the steering gear.
Start the engine.
Turn the steering wheel from stop to stop bouncing the wheel off the stops.
Washers, single lip seal, and double lip seal.
Turn "OFF" the engine.
Inspect

Pitman shaft seal surfaces for roughness or pitting. If pitted, replace the shaft.
Housing for burrs. Remove the burrs before installing the new seals.

Clean

Pitman shaft and seal areas using a crocus cloth.

Install or Connect

Lubricate the new seals with power steering fluid. Apply a single layer of tape to the pitman arm shaft to avoid damaging the seals.

Single lip seal and washer.
Install far enough to provide clearance for the remaining seal, washer, and retaining ring. DO NOT allow the seal to bottom in the bore.
Double lip seal and washer,
Install Snap ring,
Center the steering gear.
Turn the wheel until it stops. Turn the wheel in the opposite direction until it stops, while counting the number of turns. Turn the wheel back half the number of turns in the previous step.
Pitman arm.
Bleed the system. Do this by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and right.
