I'm getting a tattoo this weekend, and I want to make sure I tip properly. I've always wondered how gratuity works for tattoo's and piercings.

Depending on the price of my tattoo... I have only tipped a tattoo artist under $20 once and that was when I just got an one inch Kanji symbol... I have always tipped over 20 last tattoo I tipped about $40 and took my Tattoo artist out to the bar... but she is a friend of mine so I am good to her.

Minimum 20% of total cost. If the artist is doing original or intricate work, tip more. If the tattoo will take up a lot of the artist's time, tip more. If you squirm a lot or need to take lots of breaks because of pain, definitely tip more.
