I'd do this trade but only if it gives you depth at positions that need it. Mora is not that far of a drop-off from A-Rod, and Ordonez has been consistent all year, and Garciaparra will come off the DL soon, so go for it. If you didn't have depth before this trade, you will now

No matter how A-Rod is treated this season, he is still one of the top fantasy players in baseball today and it's a cardinal rule to never trade a top caliber player like A-Rod and Pujols for spare parts, no matter how bad they are. Here's my reason not to go forward with this trade:

1) Mora is a quality 3B but they're are better players at his position than him (Zimmerman, Atkins, Chipper Jones, you know where I'm heading) and you can do better than Mora at this time.

2) Ordonez is finally healthy but you don't know if he's going to break down again. He's has been injury-prone for two years and I'm not saying it could happen, but it might.

3) Like Ordonez, Garciaparra is finally getting his stroke back and arguably having his best season since his last half-year in Boston. However, like Ordonez, he too has been injury-prone and already headed to the DL twice this year and we don't know if he's going to come back, plus with the fact that Lugo is playing in the infield could give Garciaparra more time to rest.

4) If your going to trade A-Rod, get quality players like Pujols, Ortiz, Utley, or any other that matches value.

Unless you have clear needs in the OF and IF, this trade isn't worth it to you. You could do a lot better.

A-Rod is having a down year but he's still better than each of those guys. He is the best player in the deal.

If you're going to trade him, you should be looking for a better, proven bat than Mora or Ordonez. Think about the guys like Jason Bay, Ichiro or Miguel Cabrera. You could probably get another Utility player as well.

HELL NO!!! Are you crazy Mora and Ordonez arent that good, and Garciaparra might be coming back from the DL in a week or 2 but who's to say he wont go back on in another week (he always gets hurt). A-Rod is about to go freakin nuts. Anybody that says he sucks IS A F U C K I N G MORON!!!!

...i dont think you should do it mora and ordonez arent very consistent and i dont think garciaparra would be as good as he was when he first came back from the dL

Even though AROD isn't performing up to par this year, he's still going to do better than all three of those guys would.

I would not do this trade. A rod is catching fire as of late as one person answered earlier. His numbers will improve and you will be glad you kept him.
